Frequently Asked Questions
What spin bikes work with Spinify?
Spinify connects to any Bluetooth-enabled spin bike that broadcasts standard BLE profiles: CSC (cadence/speed), power meter (0x1818), or heart rate monitor (0x180D). It has been tested with the Schwinn IC4. If your bike has Bluetooth and advertises one of these profiles, it will work.
What music service does Spinify use?
Spinify currently integrates with Apple Music. You need an active Apple Music subscription to use music-synced cadence guidance. Spinify analyzes the BPM of your playlist tracks and sets cadence targets to match each song automatically.
How do I connect my bike?
Open Spinify and tap the bike icon on the home screen. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone and your bike is powered on. Spinify will scan for nearby BLE devices and show compatible sensors. Tap your bike to pair — it only takes a few seconds.
What are ride programs and how do I get them?
Ride programs are structured workouts with segments like warmup, flat, climb, sprint, recovery, and cooldown. You can use the built-in prebuilt programs, build your own in the program builder, or import a community program using a SPIN-XXXX share code.
How does the fire meter work?
The fire meter fills when your cadence (RPM) is within ±5 RPM of the current BPM-matched target. Stay on the beat and it rises. Drift too far from the tempo and it fades. It's a real-time measure of how well you're riding to the music.
Is Spinify free?
Spinify is free to download and includes 3 rides per month. A Premium subscription ($4.99/month) unlocks unlimited rides, custom program creation, program sharing, and detailed ride stats. Early access members receive a free month of Premium.
Troubleshooting
Bike not appearing in the sensor scan
- 1Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your iPhone (Settings → Bluetooth).
- 2Confirm your bike is powered on and the BLE sensor is active — on the Schwinn IC4, you may need to pedal briefly to wake the sensor.
- 3Move your iPhone within 1–2 meters of the bike for initial pairing.
- 4If the bike still doesn't appear, try toggling Bluetooth off and on, then restart the scan.
- 5Some bikes have separate cadence and heart rate sensors — each appears as a distinct device.
Music not playing or BPM not syncing
- 1Verify you have an active Apple Music subscription and are signed into your Apple ID.
- 2Open the Music app and confirm it can play a song before launching a ride.
- 3Grant Spinify access to Apple Music when prompted — go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Media & Apple Music if you need to re-enable it.
- 4If BPM data isn't loading, try selecting a different playlist. Some tracks in your library may not have tempo metadata available.
Cadence reading seems incorrect
- 1Cadence is measured from the bike's CSC sensor, not the iPhone's motion sensors. If the reading is erratic, check that the magnet and sensor on your bike are properly aligned.
- 2On the Schwinn IC4, cadence is derived from the flywheel speed — make sure you're using the correct gear resistance the program calls for.
- 3If you're seeing zero cadence, re-pair the sensor from the home screen.
App crashes or freezes during a ride
- 1Force-close Spinify and relaunch it.
- 2Make sure your iPhone has sufficient storage (at least 1 GB free).
- 3Update to the latest version of Spinify from the App Store.
- 4If the issue persists, email us with your device model, iOS version, and a description of what happened — we'll investigate.
